Every piece I sell is antique, vintage or pre-owned: nothing is new. Each item has been worn and loved before, and will show signs of wear in keeping with its age, such as light surface scratches, softened detail or small marks. I see this as part of an item’s character and not as a defect.

Descriptions and photographs

I describe every item as accurately as I can, based on my knowledge and a careful inspection. I photograph each piece in detail, and the photographs form part of the description. Please look through all of them before you buy so you are happy with the condition.

• Colour: Colours can look slightly different depending on your screen and device settings.
• Measurements and weights: These are approximate.
• Hallmarks and maker’s marks: I describe these as I find them. Where marks are worn or partial, I say so.
• Gemstones: Unless I say otherwise, gemstones have not been tested by a gemmologist. Descriptions are based on appearance.
• Dating: Ages and periods are my best estimate, based on style, construction and any marks.

Tarnish and cleaning

Silver and gold tarnish naturally over time, and silver tarnishes more noticeably. I clean most pieces gently before sending, so they arrive ready to wear. I avoid harsh chemicals that could damage older items. Depending on how long an item has been listed, it may arrive slightly brighter or slightly more tarnished than it looks in the photos.

Care and sensitivities

Older jewellery may contain alloys or base metals that can react with sensitive skin. If you have a known metal allergy, please ask me about the composition of a piece before buying. To keep your jewellery at its best, store it dry and away from perfume, lotions and household chemicals.

Packaging and dispatch

Every item is packed carefully in a protective postal box. For some orders, I record a video of the packing process. This gives you and me a clear record of the item’s condition when it was sent.

International buyers

Item prices and postage costs do not include import duties, taxes or customs charges. These are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your local customs office before buying so you know what to expect.

Returns

By buying an item, you confirm that you have read its description and looked at its photographs. However, purchases are made through eBay, so eBay’s buyer protection applies and nothing affects your statutory rights. If there’s a problem with your order, please contact me first. I will always do my best to put it right.
